Kellogg’s have been very active in promoting its Special K Diet and they promise a weight loss of 6 pounds in 2 weeks. If you’ve been watching TV you know what the Special K Diet plan is about.
The plan is to eat Kellogg’s Special K cereals with 2/3 cup of skim milk. Add a fruit of your choice for taste and do this for your breakfast and lunch. Your third meal is a bonus so you can eat what you normally would eat. You are also allowed to snack but you have to eat only fresh fruits, vegetables, and that other Kellogg product – Special K bar. To push this food down your stomach, you will have to consume the normal requirements for water.
The question is would you do the same Special K Diet plan for weeks? If you could, you will really see the results come in fast because this plan works. People who have stuck to the plan for two whole weeks have sworn to lose 2 pounds. That is more than others have managed to accomplish in their own diet plans.
But, truth be told now – how many people in their right sense of mind would manage to get through every day with the same bowl of cereals? Someone eating based on the same Special K Diet plan day in and day out will certainly surrender sooner or later. It could get you burned out quickly, physically and literally.
This diet does work but considering how it could become too boring, you wouldn’t really last long at it. The other drawback is that it starves you. Reality check! You are eating only cereals and some fruit twice a day every day. You might be able to adhere to the plan during the first 2 or 3 days but you will end up feeling so hungry that you will overeat come dinner time. So, at the end of the Special K Diet plan, you will have gained more pounds.
So, should you go on a Special K Diet? If you like to have a short-term solution for your weight problem, then you have a winner right here. But, if you are looking at it long-term, there is a huge chance you won’t be able to keep it. Besides, it is not a very healthy diet plan. There are healthier alternatives to this fad diet.
Kellogg’s are successful in making this a buzzword and for selling their cereals. The Special K plan is not a very good one, though. It is unhealthy since the dieter is losing a lot on the necessary nutrients that come from all other food groups in the food pyramid.
If you are up for the challenge, you could try the Special K Diet plan and lose weight in two weeks. After those 14 days, the next challenge would be if you could still continue to munch on the same cereals for another 2 weeks. Besides, you will have been too weak, and the doctor will only scold you for being too naïve and careless.
